2. Give it a twist.  Ahh: problem number 2?   Search for one!
3. Write daily, rain or shine.
4. Write more concrete and less abstract.
5. Write more simple and less simplistic.
6. Write more explicit 'how to' and less implicit 'vague'.
7. Release it to the world and worry less about the NY Times best-seller list and more about the personal e-mails you get.

Write because it is there. Write about facts and real stuff and write from your imagination. Write daily, weekly or monthly. Write on the bus, train or at the airport. Keep writing: it'll access the deep, inner you which has been shackled since those first sharp words from a teacher when you were just six and three-quarters. If you’re writing a thriller and you have hit a block, try introducing any one  of these lines to free things up:

1. We’re not who you think we are.
2. The premises were clinically clean apart from a swab of DNA we found on some gum near the door.
3. The profile suggest he’s a Rolling Stones loving loner.
4. Are you saying it could be one of us?
5. I want every CCTV film across the city of London for the last 24 hours scrutinised frame by frame. Now.
6. Recognise this badge? I’m from the Bureau and this is now our case.
7. You have until noon tomorrow. Nobody knows you are on the case and you are totally off the unit’s grid. If anything goes wrong I will deny all knowledge. The bag contains a gun, a passport and 1 million Euros. Everything else to do with you has been wiped. To say good luck would be optimistic.
