Much time management advice assumes one has control over one’s time. And thus if you do: plan, prioritise and schedule. But what if you don’t? What if you ‘work for the man’? You are buried in a cubicle in a bunker working for TotallyTotallyGlobal Inc?
Then it’s critical to have The Conversation. A conversation with one’s manager about how when there is too much to do, I decide my priorities. When there is too much to do, I receive support in strategically pushing back. And when there is too much to do I have purpose beyond e-mail.
