Rain, Love and Priorities

What is it about the rain-soaked scene in which the lovers kiss in any good romantic film? Why is it so much more powerful than the long embrace and kiss in the sunny park? Perhaps it's because we finally have it confirmed to us that nothing, simply nothing, is more important than this love to these two people. After all, we all know most of us do anything to stay out of the rain: we shelter, we wait, we scurry from building to building, dodging the downpour. Few of us stand boldly in the rain and respond to that urgent mail.
