Sure, don't CC. Yes, yes, yes: we know that.
But why not?
- The CC recipient's time is being wasted as rarely do they need the information (see 2 below).
- It's potentially indicative of many potential weaknesses in the management of the project/trust in our ability to do the right thing. So, have a discussion up-front: explain you will not cc and why not. Explain that in your occasional 1 to 1s you will do a relevant update. And then take full responsibility for your communications.
