Productivity Driver One: The Forward View.
Busyness often pulls us into a harassed present, a world where we are trying to cope with a wave of demands, e-mail and tough sales targets. All well and good except that very little anticipation of future demands is occurring when we are in that state. And it's the anticipation of future expectations that avoids an even more harassed tomorrow, next week and in 6 months time.
What's to be done? The Forward View, TFV. The Forward View takes a really good long-term planner and examines all that is coming up. A surprisingly close end of quarter. A sales conference. A training session. A US trip. And ensures that for every one of those events, planning is anticipated and started now and consequences understood and the power question asked: what can I do today to help make that meeting/event/programme/call the best it can be?
Do The Forward View once a week for the rolling month ahead and a major one which looks through the year once a month.
