- Approximately every 45 minutes, stop, stand, sip some water, take a look at the horizon and ask: what's really important now?
- That old adage: work smart not (just) hard? What does it mean? When you work smart you don't just work for today, you work for tomorrow. You invest to make things easier in the future. Thus: one of your team comes to you with a problem. You could just answer or you could invest in some coaching so that they can solve more problems themselves in the future. The latter is working smart.
- Once and for all, sort out e-mail.
- Get beyond your smartphone calendar/schedule. It's too damn small to plan a moon mission and it's the latter which will build a successful company, career and get you beyond today's (yet another) ineffective meeting.
- Work is not e-mail, meetings, office politics, awaiting elevators, standing at copy machines...Work is knowing what your objectives really are (ask) times intensive pulse working in 45 minutes batches times not being interrupted (by people, mail and phones).
- Do it right first time. Read Professionalism 101.
- Amazing productivity is more mindset (thinking) and less mechanics (the perfect app on your phone). Stay awake: get enough sleep.
