Around this time of year-that reflective gap between the 25th and 1st-thoughts often shift to change. Not all in one go nor 100% of the time, but shift they do for many of us. We are after all designed for change and to change, it's just that much of the year we are so busy and there too little slack to think about change nor do change. And then suddenly those of us fortunate enough to have an extended break do realise ultimately it is what makes us tick; we itch for change. We want to grow, we want to change.
And so a ritual was born: the New Year's Resolution. Whether you love them or hate them, for change to happen you need:
- A big enough why? (you want to change).
- Total clarity of the change you are seeking.
- Resources to support your change.
- Energy and time and space to execute change.
- Content, data and information to channel the change.
- Creativity to allow change to happen in the face of challenges.
- Specific action which becomes the change.
