I'm pleased with all of my books; wouldn't change a single one. Every one records a battle with words, me, publishers and trying to encapsulate a workable pragmatic message which the reader might use. 'Real' ones with real publishers such as Get a Life, 'self-published' ones such as How To Be Brilliant, 'mini-books' such as Professionalism 101, card packs such as Sales Excellence. Yes, all reflect a slice of life, love and learning.
But I'm very pleased with this one:
- It's super concentrated. 60K words to which you just need to add water (a bit of your own perspiration) to get exactly what you want. It's high-value, no-nonsense and results orientated.
- It's very easy to read with loads of crazy drawings to make the point (a picture is a 1000 words etc.). Plenty of publishers said it couldn't be done: cost, etc etc. It's done. Well done, John Wiley.
- You can study it, you can pick it up for daily inspiration, you can start anywhere: it's flexible.
- It has the topics you need:
- Career. Way beyond 'follow your passion'. Get off the treadmill, out of the cubicle and way beyond TGIF.
- Being The Best Version of You. Focused, excellent energy reserves and lighthearted.
- Personal Compass. One of my earliest concepts presented here in stripped-back easy to implement, set your direction format.
- Productivity. Banish the distractors, do the right things and get the balance you seek.
- Ideas into Invoices. How to have loads and loads of ideas. And some of them being very good ones. And one or two of them being invoicable
- Simplify, simplify simplify. So once again you can walk a beach, notice the horizon, listen to a complete album, cook a meal without a phone distraction. and hold hands without it needing to be an outlook appointment.
- It's structured for 100% accessibility:
- Key Concepts; the essential messages
- Case Study: an example of someone who has tacked this issue. And succeeded.
- Q&A: the awkward questions answered.
- Summary: your check list
- It's in paper format
- It's in kindle format
- It's available in the UK
- It's available in USA and Singapore and ....
- you need one
- each of your team needs one
- and your mum needs one for when she comments 'you've changed love, haven't you? I knew you'd come around eventually...now what about a cup of tea?'
