- Focused;
- determined;
- principled;
- knowing.
- And of course:
- doing.
- Real Grit...
- History simply for reference not recrimination.
- This is not a movie: this is for real.
- I rather than he or she.
- We rather than they.
- On time every time.
- In the room; totally full on 100% present.
- Solution seeking: you simply don’t do complaining;
- “it spoils my day”, you say.
- Real Grit...
- Finding your thing;
- doing your thing;
- executing it better, far better than anybody else…
- on the planet.
- Loving hard, smart work.
- And smart, hard work.
- What’s necessary,
- when it’s necessary.
- Squeezing out the demons of doubt;
- knowing the dark side has possibilities simply because few else will visit it and explore.
- "it is very easy to forgive others their mistakes; it takes more grit and gumption to forgive them for witnessing your own" Jessamyn West
- Beyond distraction: e-mail pinging, facebook checking and cookie crumbling...
- Loving handy routes to delivery: the master list, the wall planner and the daily bouts at the boxing bag.
- "every bit of writing starts with grit: a sight or sound or sentence or happening that does not pass away but quite inexplicably lodges in the mind" Rumer Godden
- Getting your unpolluted story out into the crowd:
- this is who I am...
- this is what I do...
- this is why you need me...
- this is the extraordinary value I offer...
- Remembering:
- you don’t have to listen to their negative comments simply because they are scared of what success might bring to you. OR THEM.
- That you want to do meaningful work even if that takes a decade to get up-and-running as a career.
- And it probably will.
- But you can hack it.
- Real Grit...
- Planning your quest:
- over hill;
- beyond dale;
- across mountains;
- via dried-up river beds;
- over-night camps;
- days without proper food.
- Eating frugally:
- but becoming lean and mean;
- and fighting fit
- Thinking what could I do?
- If I didn’t worry so much!
- If I got on with it..
- If didn't expect total clarity always.
- That I realised that excellence came with:
- repeated execution,
- with learning from mistakes,
- from hanging out with the best,
- from simply being determined.
- But
- but
- but
- Is it really that simple?
- Can't I have an excuse?
- Is it as simple as 'grit'.
- simply persevering
- hanging on in there
- knowing one's vision.
- Sure.
- So: no excuses?
- No. No excuses.
- No loopholes?
- No. No loopholes.
- "a grindstone that had no grit in it: how long would that take to sharpen an axe; and the affairs of man without grit: how long would they take to make a man? Henry Ward Beecher
- Get up;
- deliver to the highest of standards;
- consistently.
- Works
- every
- damn time.
- Excellence has little competition.
- Delivering excellence is a joy.
- Excellence knocks their socks off.
- Excellence secures your career.
- Excellence gets you well paid.
- Excellence comes with added
- Grit:
- determined
- long-term thinker
- goal-driven
- willing to ride with dust in their mouth
- happy to survive on just beans for a few days
- consistently delivers.
- Grit:
- makes
- you
- the
- person
- you need to be.
- And gets you the life you want to have.
