- Once
- you
- realise
- it's not them,
- it's you....
- Surprisingly
- things
- get a whole lot easier.
- They really do.
- Who after all is “they”?
- Identifying “them” is like trying to predict the weather if you live in the British Isles
- or nail a blob of jelly to the wall
- or understand what is going on in a toddler's mind.
- “They” who stop you.
- “They” who annoy you.
- "They" who hold you back.
- Yep, tricky to identify.
- And tricky to manage.
- And a time-consuming distraction.
- But...
- you...
- can manage you really easily...
- Then life unfolds.
- Dreams are realised.
- And you can circumnavigate the idiots who let you down, swamp your in box with time wasting mails, stand at water coolers complaining about 'the management', miss milestones and still want a bonus.
- Absolutely: you can accelerate away.
- Get your career back on track.
- Sort that ridiculous pension plan.
- Choose the alternate universe.
- The alternate universe?
- Yes: Universe Alternate.
- The one where what you see is what you get.
- The one where results are proportional to effort you put in.
- The one where rain, mis-placed car keys and baby sick on your clean blouse are just a ripple in a space-time continuum.
- And the one where self-discipline is taught, encouraged and respected and realised to be the answer
- -the only damn answer-
- rather than all the tangential stuff about time management, work-life balance and 'listening' conversations.
- Self discipline.
- Heck.
- Just the words put the fear of the gods into many.
- Yep: self-discipline.
- Man: are you sure?
- In the world of the artisan?
- Ha: if you are a true artisan you live and breathe self discipline. You just make it look easy.
- So: self-discipline.
- Meeting promises.
- Being places on time.
- Planning ahead.
- Being professional.
- Anticipating.
- Being ethical.
- Clearing up the coffee cups.
- Understanding a job is two way thing.
- Taking ownership.
- Doing it because it is there.
- Plan It.
- Do It.
- Review It.
- Respecting others and skipping potential weasel words such as diversity.
- But.
- But..
- But...
- Realising self-discipline needs support...
- it needs a good friend or two..
- Knowing a true friend and hanging on to him or her for dear life.
- As after all: what is life but friendship?
- Buddy friendship.
- Colleague friendship.
- I-Love-your-texts-friendship.
- Lover friendship.
- You-understand-me friendship.
- And knowing that once in a lifetime someone drops into your life and suddenly it all makes sense. A soul-mate perhaps?
- Maybe...
- But why label them?
- Hang on to them.
- Time stops with them.
- Thoughts are unrestricted with them.
- Honesty is a given with them.
- As one thing is for sure:
- realising takes time;
- it needs a wake up.
- But hopefully not a wake up call:
- An illness;
- a lost friendship;
- a career off track;
- Realising means:
- My Universe not Their Universe
- Love not Lists
- Friendship not Fear
- Self Discipline not Self Admonishment
- Endorphins not Email
- I/We not They
- Now not Never
- Moon not Money
- Sunsets not Salary
- Journey not Destination
- A Passion not A Job
- Realisation
- Realising
- Realise!
- Today not Tomorrow.
