Cascade is a method of communication which lacks explicit definition, has a metaphorical implication and sounds cool and is therefore popular in organisations (q.v.), handy to mention as a solution to any problem when caught out in a meeting (q.v.) and easy to spell when sending e-mail (q.v.) from the depths of an obscure club in Singapore.  It is popular to cascade ideas using PowerPoint (q.v.); this maintains the ritualistic nature of 'the cascade'.
