E-mail is a virus released by extra-terrestrials onto Planet Earth in the early 1970s with the intention of bringing the planet to a grinding halt; that mission is now almost accomplished. Comprised of a simple stream of electrons which is 'shot' from chip-embedded device to another chip-embedded device, the true brilliance behind the cunning plan is the sheer ease of using e-mail and the appearance that things are getting done. In fact 97.6% of the time they are simply being passed from in-box to in-box. E-mail is used to call people to meetings (q.v.) and is an ally of PowerPoint (q.v.) in causing people to seek an answer to one of Life's eternal questions: what's it all about, Alfie?
