- The one where time=money i.e. you work an hour and are paid for an hour. Start raising your standards, working smarter and getting more creative until one day a distinct tipping point is reached where people notice that they don't want you for your time but for your value. They realise just twenty minutes of your time is worth a week's pay. Then you've cracked it: you no longer are dealing with a finite resource (time); you have access to an infinite resource i.e. your value. Now your earnings can be unlimited.
- The one where keeping fit is a chore, a bore and doesn't happen. Stop working at going to the gym and hating it and start working at finding an activity which keeps you fit and you enjoy. Make a list of possibilities starting with cycling and try them all; that in itself should get you fit.
- The one where age has become an excuse. Oh, I'm too young for that position.Oh, I'm certainly too old to be starting that now. Bull**it. Many age considerations are purely mental. Decide that you can do it and ...you can.
- The one where you will only give if you get. Not a bad rule for commercial negotiation. But not all of Life is a commercial exchange. There are those starting out on the tough path you have trodden. There are those less fortunate. Help them out, with no expectation of return.
- The one where your book is simply not going to happen. Yes it is. You have ideas. You can write. You can create. Thus a book is born. Go for it.
- The one where happiness=stuff. Oh, boy does it seem to. But think about it for a moment. The chips are down...what would you really, really want? Now be delighted it's not quite that bad and you can enjoy those very things.
- The one where the TV is central to the household. Be ruthless. Banish it. Limit it. Reduce the number. And notice the sense of calm and productivity which descends.
