- Aliens
didn’t build Stonehenge;
- Man
did land on the Moon;
- Beatle
Sir Paul is alive and kicking.
- Boy,
do we love a good conspiracy.
- Start
with a fact or two;
- stir
in some conjecture;
- a
little confusion;
- a
distorted quotation;
- add
a doctored photo.
- And
most recently add the internet……
- a
subtle twitter….
- …as
gentle as the proverbial butterfly wing’s beat the other side of the globe…
- and
there you have it:
- a
gestating Conspiracy Theory.
- Of
course they are denying it: that’s because it is true!
- They
would say that.
- Water
fluoridation. Oh yes!
- And
don’t even start on global warming….
- Nor
JFK.
- 9/11.
- Clinton
Body Count.
- The
Philadelphia Experiment.
- Even
the creation of good ol’ Wikipedia.
- And what the FDA gets up to….
- We
love a good conspiracy:
- a
simple fact made into a narrative, a story, a drama to which we can all
contribute, tell and re-tell.
- Why
do we do it?
- We
are dramatists at heart!
- We
love story..
- Once
we couldn’t write anything down as there was no….paper. Incredible, but true!
- So
memory…
- ..plus
story-telling ability…
- was
all there was.
- The
story of the tribe, the story of the culture.
- We
miss those times and their great rambling sagas…
- of
men and women… of monsters and sea creatures…
- and
gold and demons…
- and
heroes and heroines.
- It’s
what make us one of the most loveable creatures in the universe. Most of the time.
- There,
in a youngish solar system in an ancient empty universe. On a craggy blue and
green planet spinning around a Sun at a perfect distance to support Life. Thunder and lightening. All
alone. Grappling with language and the pains of the subjunctive, we were sitting
around camp fires….
- …telling
stories…
- …creating
urban myths before anyone knew what urban meant.
- And
when there were things we didn’t understand or people we didn’t like we
searched and searched for meaning and understanding when it wasn’t always there…
- …especially
when it might create blame and propagate it…
- so
we wrapped it around a story for longevity.
- The
conspiracy was born.
- Such
as the North American Union and its currency the amero
- And
of course Shakespeare isn’t 'the man' after all...
- And
where is Shergar?
- But
most of the time.
- Perhaps,
disappointingly.
- The
explanation is simple.
- Damn
simple.
- Too
damn simple for our liking a lot of the time.
- The
obvious.
- The
simple.
- OCCAM
PUT IT PRETTY WELL.
- Occam's razor: the concept that when you have two opposing/diverging/different ideas that make exactly the same predictions, the simpler one is the most likely to be correct.
- And
you know the biggest?
- Globe
spinning?
- Mind
numbing?
- Ever
quoted, lip-smacking conspiracy on the planet?
- "Success
is a function of school and college".
- But
it isn’t.
- It
simply isn’t.
- Success
is a function of oomph.
- Sure,
college can help.
- (although
if handled badly it sure can hinder)
- but:
whatever you want….
- ..whatever
success is for you
- The
salary increase.
- The
girl.
- The
house on the hill.
- The
car.
- Don’t
believe the hearsay.
- Work
on your mindset.
- Releasing
the A W E S O M E potential of your brain.
- The
only real conspiracy is how well we have been conditioned.
- School,
college, mba….
- It
isn’t intrinsically bad. It really, really isn’t. But. IT AIN”T ENOUGH for what
you
- That’s
you.
- Really
want.
- Stop
the drip feed into your brain.
- That
success is dependent on ‘tick-list’ education.
- It
actually depends on oomph, drive, attitude, mindset. Call it what you will.
- That’s
get up and go.
- Get
up and ask. Yell, if necessary.
- Get
up and make the call.
- Get
up and send the 100th CV.
- Conspiracy
over.
- No
aliens
- (Although
do read the Area 51 Autopsy report. It’s mighty cool).
- No
hidden FBI nor CIA transmitters in the back of your TV (obviously worth checking
every so often, though)
- No
doctored Starbucks coffee. It’s just simply strong.
- Just
you and what you want.
- 1
nanometre (that’s very, very small) apart.
- There
for the grabbing.
- Get
the basics: school, college, MBA. Etc
- But
it ain’t enough!
- That’s
where you come in.
- You
conspiracy buster, you. Rock on.
