- What if you were
fearless?
- Simply put, you had no
fear?
- Usted no tiene timor.
- You were a wolf (a nice
one, clearly) amongst sheep;
- a man/woman amongst
boys/girls.
- Not daft, obviously:
- you still avoided dark
alleyways;
- got a bit-maybe a lot-of
advice before a parachute jump;
- checked your surgeon’s
qualifications before the knee op.
- But no fear as in
- …being more radical at
the marketing meeting;
- …presenting without PPT
slides;
- …listening to your
girlfriend fully and properly;
- …cycling to work;
- …seriously planned your
own business;
- …started your writing;
- …and/or your drawing;
- …sorted the controlling,
limiting relationship;
- …finally packed in the job
you hated even though your parents had higher hopes for you than a Starbucks
barista;
- ..created a clever
portfolio of money-earning jobs so that you can give the support to your child you
really want to give.
- And noticed how it made
you feel a little anxious,
- actually: very anxious,
- of course.
- But certainly:
- ALIVE!
- Not:
- a cog in machine;
- nor a hamster on a
wheel;
- a payroll number with
seven digits;
- a Blackberry picker on
the Jubilee line;
- a shadow of your former
self in a laptop/slide-deck driven meeting on level five of Conglomerates Tower
surrounded by sandwiches from Subway and lattés (be they made from Arabica
bean) from McDonalds.
- But:
- an innovator;
- a radical;
- an encourager;
- an entrepreneur;
- a thinker;
- a wizard;
- an alchemist;
- an
I’ve-got-to-change-the world fanaticist;
- a lover of life;
- rain or shine;
- a contributor.
- And what if?
- The blockers which…
- you were certain existed…
- were just…
- rips in the space-time quantum
sheet and a bit of use of Bell’s Theorem (No physical theory of
local hidden variables can ever reproduce all of the predictions of quantum
mechanics etc).
- meant they could be eradicated.
- What if that meant:
- work-life balance issues just disappeared as you live your Life;
- stress just vanished as you enjoyed challenge;
- and money was no longer the number 1, 100% every minute of the day
motivator as you had all the wealth you ever really needed as you watched the
sun-set, re-read his nice e-mail to you and played on the swings at the park
with your 4 year old?
- And then had a latte in the Italian café chatting to Luigi as the
fluorescent tube flickered-ridiculously-overhead.
- And you realised you do have the time to talk.
- And you became…
- so damned fearless that:
- aging slowed…
- creativity blossomed…
- intuition expanded…
- negativity evaporated…
- resourcefulness become wired-in…
- What if you gave it a go?
- Super-meta-fearless, that is?
- Nothing to be lost!
- And saw a route out of the corporate jungle;
- the child-care nightmare;
- the pension fiasco.
- Of course fearless isn’t:
- arrogant. It’s more about humility.
- Nor selfishness, more about abundance and encouragement.
- It’s polite and amazingly persistent.
- Nor is it any guarantee.
- But it’s a heck more likely,
- to release and realise the best and only version of you.
- Nor is it so concerned about the views of others (although feed-back is always
welcomed).
- Nor is it seeking ‘approval’.
- Fearless is:
- breaking moulds.
- Do I really need such a smart car?
- Do I really need a degree?
- An MBA?
- I could do my own MBA!
- Weeks 1-4: kickboxing; 5-8: learn Spanish; 9-12: read everything on
classic MBA reading list; 13-16: 4 weeks as an intern; 17-20: back-pack around
Asia; 21-25: start a blog on ‘your thing’; 26-30: financial immersion with a
great coach.
- Then publish all learnings in a blurb.com book.
- What’s fearless for you?
- That putting-off thing?
- That never-quite-got-to on the dreams list?
- Allowing a realization that it’s got to be done…
- That it is love after all.
- The possibilities are:
- LIMITLESS.
- The blockers are:
- ZERO.
- The excitement is:
- STAGGERING.
- The depth of Life makes you:
- GIDDY.
- When you are
- FEARLESS.
- F**k*ng Fearless.
