When we see our favourite band in action, when we hear what our favourite novelist gets paid, a tremor of a thought goes through our brain: I’d love to do that. Here’s the thing: everyone is a rock-star. Whether you are stacking the Christmas puddings at your supermarket because two of the team are on ‘sickies’ or you’re a graduate trainee accountant just starting out, act like a rock star. Now I don’t mean smash equipment, arrive at work by mid afternoon or give daft interviews. But I do mean put your all into it, exude passion and energy and act as if every bit of work you do is your ‘greatest hits’ tour. Because it is. Life will transform: try it. The alternative strategy of ‘I’ll be great when I’m great’ is just no fun at all. Now: where’s that guitar?
