Many of us have to give the presentations of others. A slide deck provided 'by marketing'. The 'standard sales pitch'. 'HR's explanation of the new compensation scheme'. How do you make it your own?
1. Read it several times. If at all possible go back to the author/s for deeper explanataion of what they were trying to get across. 5 minute phone conversation.
2. Sketch out a 'storyboard': a square for every 1 minute of the presentataion. 1 minute.
3. Write what is currently happening in the presentation every minute in the squares. It's likely to be 'slide', 'slide', slide'. 1 minute.
4. Think, consider, reflect. What could make the talk more powerful, interesting, engaging? 5 minutes.
5. Now revise what will be happening in some of those minutes/squares. 5 minutes.
6. Rehearse it.
7. Give it.
You're an even better presenter.
