Don Winslow has written a supurb thriller (The Winter of Frankie Machine). Not only do you get a great read, you get some wisdom along the way, too:
On time management:
"He has tried-without conspicuous success-to explain this simple management technique to the kid Abe. "If you have a routine," he has lectured, "you can always deviate from it if something comes up. But if you don't have a routine, then everything is stuff that comes up. Get it?" Page 19
On making a difference:
That's okay, Frank thinks. He dosn't want "but he respected protocol" carved on his headstone. Page 41
