It lurks. It menaces. It arrives at the most akward times: fear. Of the presentation; of tackling our boss; of finally leaving and getting our start-up going. Of showing our painting or manuscript. Even of looking her in the eyes and saying: I love you. Fear.
Tackle it:
1. Feel the fear and do it anyway (Susan Jeffers). Much fear was hard-wired to encourage us to take care when fighting a bear or leaping a chasm. In modern business the risks are lower. Do it.
2. You don't fail; you learn. How will you become brilliant without making some mistakes? Do it.
3. Chase challenge not comfort. You know that really-that's why you keep thinking about it. Do it.
4. Don't blame the kids. They want you to have passion. Don't use them as an excuse. Do it.
Do it. And now would be a very good time.
