Previously on Totally, Totally, Global Inc. Sales are down. Morale is low. Strategy has been neglected. Jo has a breakthrough and develops a saga. Jo finds the first person to join his elite team.
He didn’t see Mary that often but whenever he did he enjoyed her company; perhaps he should ask her out sometime? And perhaps he should drink less coffee and perhaps he should get back to the 0630 cross-fit class and perhaps he should get serious about his Spanish? And perhaps he should start cooking and stop microwaving ready-meals?
So much to do, so little time.
But perhaps for the moment he should fix this. Just focus on this: do one thing well. Practically speaking if he didn’t fix it, he’d be looking for another job soon and he really didn’t want that again. And let’s see if for once, just for once, he could make an impact. He returned to his notebook and it was clear: they had a stack of intellectual expertise that they were no longer using. They had to re-vitalise that mass of smart skill, which had become dulled. They needed to create the next step change in productivity software. Productivity would continue to be the biggest challenge in a world of overload.
He turned to a fresh page of his notebook: in Jo’s world, rarely could anything be expressed in less than three nor need more than seven points. So, in three:
- Productivity and getting the right things done at home, work and play would remain the number 1 issue.
- They had some of the greatest minds on the topic but they had become dulled and mechanised and needed to re-vitalised and re-focus.
- They now needed to identify ‘the leap’, the step change.
