Most of the time we'd like to be confident. To ask
her out, to present with flair, to believe in our business idea, to
finally start our family, to push back on our boss, to take some family
time and not worry about e-mail.....Confidence is critical to our
success and our health. It's easily lost: a negative comment, a
rejection, a subdued audience, poor management. But too much of it and
we lose our judgement and we drift towards arrogance.
So: confidence. How to develop it. How not to lose it. And how to use it.
Routes To Confidence 10: Notice what's working
High performers are tough on themselves: constantly noticing what is NOT working. It can be hard on the old confidence. Switch the thinking for a while: notice what IS working. Notice how skills are building. It'll build confidence.
time certain occasions demanded a shift in formality, poise and thinking. An easy way to indicate this was change of clothing. The ladies have always been good at this. And for men a structured set of rules appeared. Lounge suits, ties, shoes....But it's all disappearing. Slowly, but surely. Does it matter? Yes.
time a Cola bottle contained a glassful and a bit or few good swigs. The perfect ratio Starbucks drink was 'the short'. Now so many sizes are too big for comfort; but we are guided to put 'value' over taste & comfort.
